BadgeReplicas
badges are cast from a casting metal, harder than alloy but still
slightly flexible. All metal badges are chromed or gold plated, and
painted with two-pack enamels or automotive lacquers. They replicate,
as closely as possible, the original factory item in size, shape,
color and finish. However, due to slight shrinkage of the metal during
the casting process, some badges may not exactly fit the mount points,
for both screw mounted and push-in types. Many badges have been modified
to take this shrinkage into account, so that they will fit easily
without modification
Badge Replicas - BADGE FITTING INSTRUCTIONS
Read BEFORE fitting!!
Badge Replicas badges have been produced to replicate as closely as
possible the original factory item in size, shape, colour, and finish.
However, due to slight shrinkage of the metal during the casting process,
some badges may not exactly fit the fixing points, for both screw-mounted
and push-in types.
Screw-on type Metal Tank Badges
These badges are easily stolen (just a screwdriver is required!),
so this method actually improves security. Affix the badge using double-sided
automotive adhesive tape (available from most auto stores) or silicone
glue, ensuring the tape/glue is used only in the recess on the back
of the badge. One screw can be used as normal, the other should have
the thread removed and the head glued (epoxy or silicone glue) to
the badge.
Push-in type Metal Tank Badges
As above, but one of the pegs may need to be removed.
Screw-on Plastic Tank Badges
Plastic badges are made from a flexible Perspex-like material, pre-shaped
exactly as per the OEM originals. Please use a thread lock compound
on the fixing screws, and tighten to just firm. Excessive
tightening may cause cracking around the badge holes. NB auto paint
polishes can be used on the exterior of plastic badges.
Sidecover Badges
The sidecover badge fixing holes may need to be extended slightly
with a small round file. Automotive tape or silicone glue may
be used to affix badges, with or without fixing clips.
Bending to Shape
You may need to bend these badges to fit exactly. In order to avoid
any cracking of paint finishes, pre-heat the badge in a low
oven. Be very careful to bend no more than necessary, and use finger
strength only.
Badges
will fit like OEM badge in most cases. In cases where they do not,
these instructions will ensure your badges are installed securely.
